honeyagate season is open

I'm just hanging out going stir crazy waiting for the river to go down after all the rain. I managed to sneak out and find a few nice pieces before the rain. hope you like these pictures. I found some honey agate, petrified wood, lake superior agate, a deer antler, a possible old Indian tool, a smoky quartz and some just rocks for my rock garden.

morel mushroom season is here

They are finally here. One of my favorite things about spring arriving. That's right morel mushroom season has made it to Iowa. I found me about four dozen of them Tuesday. We need some rain for them to really pop up but no rain in forecast until this weekend. I also took a bunch of different angle pictures of progress of front yard. I almost have all the rock in. Hopefully I will find enough rocks this year to finish it. Time to start rock tumbling again too. I think I will start off doing honeyagate to make some necklaces. Happy hunting everyone.

same show new name

This morning I was checking the t.v. guide and found Kirsten Gum doing the same show under a different name. Now it's "Treasure Hunter Kirsten Gum". Not sure how long it's been that way I haven't had time to keep up with everything. Nice weather is sneaking in soon the morel mushrooms will start popping up. I can't wait winter seems like it took forever this year. I can't wait to go rock hunting on the river and try out our new rafts. All the rock necklaces that me and my daughter made went for Christmas presents but I have bought a few more chains to make more. Time to start firing up the rock polisher again. Happy hunting everyone.

spring fever

Spring fever has set in for this year today was beautiful outside so I did some spring cleaning and some work on my rock garden. I had some medium size rocks nothing special really just different colored ones to add something different to the front yard. I decided to start collecting some medium size (about soccer ball size) to do an edge around the rock garden. I have decided to put petrified wood around the waterfall. Then I got some nice sliced pieces of different agates to put on bottom of stream that runs to pond. I will get some pictures of my progress when I get all the leaves and stuff cleaned up. Hopefully it will be nice enough again tomorrow so I can get more done. There is a small chance of rain in the forecast. Hopefully soon we will be able to go rock hunting so I can get some more honey agate and petrified wood. Good luck everyone.

crabs and sea glass

Well I wasn't real excited about the crabs but I did like the sea glass part. I wonder if what kind of effect the river has on glass. That would be cool to find some pieces of glass in the river all nice and rounded from the sand. I do know if I ever make it to the coast again I will keep an eye out for sea glass. Let's hope next week she does a show on rocks on Cash and Treasures.
